Turmeric is a Magical golden root that has been used for at least 10,000 years in India as a spice and a medicine.

When scientists studied Turmeric they discovered that it contains a powerful anti-oxidant called curcumin. This powerful substance is what gives Turmeric it's wonderful color and it's amazing healing properties. Anti-oxidants are the most effective way for the body to rid itself of free radicals. Free radicals damage the cells and the organs so the more you can get rid of, the healthier you will be, long term.

Turmeric is considered to be one my favorite category of food/medicines: The Adaptogens. Adaptogens help your body to become more adaptable to stress from the environment, which we all have too much of these days. Turmeric helps your body maintain it's integrity around environmental pollutants, and helps to support your immune system, keeping you safe from outside invaders.

Turmeric is used as an anti inflammatory and can reduce symptoms of soreness, joint pain, stress, etc. Some people take aspirin or other anti inflammatory drugs regularly, and if you take turmeric regularly you can get the same benefits, but without the harmful side effects of intestinal bleeding... yuck, in fact the turmeric will actually benefit your digestion.

So what's the best way to incorporate Turmeric into your daily diet?

The way that I take turmeric most often is just to add it to my morning smoothie. I started putting a about half a teaspoon of powdered turmeric into my smoothie every morning, and now I put more like a tablespoon in there. I enjoy the taste of it, and the way it blends with the other ingredients it is a great adjunct.

If you put too much turmeric in it can over power the other flavors. Experiment with your ideal dosage.  Since I have been doing this I haven't noticed any joint pains and I haven't gotten a cold or flu.

You can start to incorporate this Magical Healing Herb into your diet today. If you don't already have some powdered Turmeric go out and buy some Organic Turmeric from your store and start to put good doses of it into your smoothies.
